Pinnacle is 8-2 against Chaparral since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Pinnacle Pioneers will look to defend their home court against the Chaparral Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. Pinnacle has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 454 points over their last six contests.
Even though Desert Mountain scored an imposing 97 points on Friday, Pinnacle still came out on top. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Pinnacle made off with a 98-97 victory over Desert Mountain.
Pinnacle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kareem Alkhalifa, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds. Tommy Randolph was another key contributor, scoring 27 points along with 6 assists.
Meanwhile, Chaparral was able to grind out a solid victory over Santa Barbara on Thursday, taking the game 57-47. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 59th in Arizona, while Santa Barbara is ranked 503rd in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Pinnacle to 5-1 and Desert Mountain to 1-1.
Pinnacle was able to grind out a solid win over Chaparral in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 65-58. Will Pinnacle repeat their success, or does Chaparral have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
