The Tahoma Bears scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Liberty 72-48. Tahoma has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 24 points or more this season.
Tahoma can attribute much of their success to Brooke Deyak, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Deyak scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Nettleton, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from Ella Whitaker, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Whitaker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Tran, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Tahoma pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.67 points. As for Liberty, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.
Tahoma won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kentwood at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Kentwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Tahoma is ranked 15th). As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Liberty likes a good challenge.
