Brooks hasn't had much luck against Kennedy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will challenge the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Brooks duked it out with Curie on Monday. The Eagles blew past the Condors 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Amaya Estrada was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Estrada is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayla Tarr, who fired off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Tarr is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Maria Garcia was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Brooks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Kennedy got the win against Waukegan on Saturday by a conclusive 16-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.
Like Brooks, Kennedy also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Jimenez. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Jimenez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Sophia Holguin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was Holguin's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jessica Monarrez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Brooks' record is now 4-1. As for Kennedy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Brooks has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .602. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've averaged .566. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brooks suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Kennedy in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
