Even though The Rock Lions scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, the Altamonte Christian Eagles still came out on top. Altamonte Christian had just enough and edged The Rock out 71-69. The win was all the more spectacular given Altamonte Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while The Rock is ranked 22nd).
Altamonte Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Billings, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Nehemiah Rivera was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Altamonte Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for The Rock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-7.
Altamonte Christian will head out on the road to face off against City of Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for The Rock, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against DME Academy Gold at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. DME Academy Gold is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
