East Columbus has gone 8-2 against Pender recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The East Columbus Gators will venture away from home to face off against the Pender Patriots at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
East Columbus took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let West Bladen get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The ten-run effort marked the Gators' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Sara Coleman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Jenna King was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
East Columbus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .426 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Pender put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Wallace-Rose Hill with a sharp 17-7 win. Fans of the Patriots have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Kaylee Woodcock made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Charleigh Rivenbark was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenyatta Jacobs, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
East Columbus' record is now 4-1. As for Pender, their record now sits at 4-0.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Columbus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .608. However, it's not like Pender struggles in that department as they've averaged .516. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
