The Nederland Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 51-44 win over Weldon Valley. The win was a breath of fresh air for Nederland as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Nederland had a senior duo take command as Gavin Dillon dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds and Rick Fortunato scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fortunato has scored all season. Mason Ivy was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Nederland's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Weldon Valley, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Nederland will take on Non Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weldon Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Briggsdale at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th.
