The Ouachita Parish Lions will square off against the St. Frederick Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Ouachita Parish is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Ouachita Parish faced off against Oak Grove on Saturday. The Lions came up short against the Tigers, falling 7-1. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Ouachita Parish saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Madison, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, St. Frederick had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Warriors have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Abigail Creighton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addie Clampit, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Sophie Domonkos was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
St. Frederick's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ouachita Parish, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-15.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Ouachita Parish hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like St. Frederick struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ouachita Parish might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from St. Frederick in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
