In what's become a running theme this season, Mount Vernon gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 72-50 margin over Galloway. Given Mount Vernon's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Galloway is ranked 410th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kj Garris was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Pace Bottoms, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Paideia didn't have too much trouble with Whitefield Academy at home on Friday as they won 66-48. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Paideia has managed all season.
Mount Vernon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Paideia, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Mount Vernon and Paideia were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but Mount Vernon came up empty-handed after a 53-52 loss.
