Castaic is 0-7 against Saugus since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Coyotes will face off against the Centurions at 3:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Castaic turned things around against Bishop Diego on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering the Coyotes' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Tatum McAfee made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. McAfee was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Alexis Steen was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, five runs, and four RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lulu Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Castaic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Saugus waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They blew past the Grizzlies 14-1. The Centurions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.
Kona Ramsbottom looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Saugus got a big performance out of Sabrina Dockery, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Tatum Kurowski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Saugus' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Castaic, their record is now 9-13.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Castaic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Saugus struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Castaic couldn't quite get it done against Saugus in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 4-0. Can the Coyotes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
