Baseball Recap: Freedom Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Freedom won the last time they faced Southern Lehigh and things went their way on Friday too. The Patriots blew past the Spartans 16-4. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Freedom got a massive performance out of Colin Andrews, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Andrews a new career-high. Patrick Kiefner was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Freedom hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Southern Lehigh, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Freedom will challenge Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hurricanes have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Southern Lehigh, they will head out on the road to take on Pen Argyl at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Green Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
