The Lakeside Knights were the 53-47 winner over the Thunder Ridge Longhorns when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Lakeside fell 40-32 to Thunder Ridge on Friday. While losing is never fun, Lakeside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Thunder Ridge is ranked 97th).
When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lauren Brummet. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds. Brummet scored a full 53.1% of Lakeside's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Ruthstom, who scored 8 points.
Lakeside now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Thunder Ridge, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Stockton. Stockton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Thunder Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rock Hills.
