Muleshoe is 2-8 against Littlefield since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mules will host the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Littlefield will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Muleshoe extended their winning streak to ten on Monday. The Mules blew past Roosevelt 13-3.
Adalie Agundis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Addilene Blanco was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Heaven McMullen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Muleshoe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Littlefield, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on Idalou with a sharp 19-4 victory on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what Littlefield needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
The team relied heavily on Natalia Sanchez, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Aleman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Muleshoe pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Littlefield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muleshoe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .489. However, it's not like Littlefield struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Muleshoe came out on top in a nail-biter against Littlefield in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Mules have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
