Having just played yesterday, the Sabino Sabercats will get right back to it and host the Pueblo Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Sabino focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
Sabino's 12-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 66-47 win over Tanque Verde. That looming 66-47 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Sabino yet this season.
Cameron Hackworth continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and seven steals. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Berryhill , who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Pueblo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Amphitheater by a score of 52-50.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jorge Franco, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was David Hernandez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Sabino's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-11. As for Pueblo, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Sabino have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 30.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Pueblo, though, as they've only made 36.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sabino won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, slipping by Pueblo 65-64. Will Sabino repeat their success, or does Pueblo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
