Camarillo has gone a perfect 4-0 against Notre Dame (SO) recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Scorpions will welcome the Knights at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Camarillo 3.6, Notre Dame (SO) 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Camarillo is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Moorpark just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Musketeers by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Scorpions couldn't push the score so high this time.
Janelle Rillo-Figueroa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Alianna Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame (SO) came tearing into Tuesday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Aliyah Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nadia Ledon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Keira Luderer was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Notre Dame (SO) hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.
Notre Dame (SO) pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Camarillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Camarillo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Notre Dame (SO) struggles in that department as they've averaged .421. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Camarillo beat Notre Dame (SO) 7-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Scorpions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
