On Thursday, things could have been worse for Nikiski, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-36 loss to West Valley.
Nikiski lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kailey Stynsberg, who scored 11 points. Stynsberg is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. Alexa Iyatunguk was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Nikiski has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for West Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nikiski will take on Juneau-Douglas at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wasilla at 6:20 p.m. Wasilla is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
