Last Tuesday, Alleghany came up short against Elkin and fell 14-10. Even if the Trojans couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Ava Busic made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Cheyenne Turney was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Surry Central got the win against Elkin on Wednesday by a conclusive 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
McKindsey Lloyd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lloyd was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Surry Central got a massive performance out of Morgan Brooks, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Mallie Southern, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Surry Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Alleghany's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Surry Central, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Alleghany hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Surry Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
