The Millbrook Wildcats waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 48-41 win over Heritage. That's another feather in the cap for Millbrook, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Millbrook to victory were Aaliyah Graham and Lauren Brown. Graham scored 15 points along with three steals, while Brown scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Millbrook's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Bardeen, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Nia Jones, who scored 21 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Celia LaVita was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Millbrook's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Heritage, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Millbrook will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wolverines at 6:15 p.m. Wakefield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wildcats in North Carolina (the Wolverines are ranked 103rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 309th). Heritage will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Cougars at 6:15 p.m. on February 6th. Wake Forest is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Huskies an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
