The Rocky River Ravens pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-55 to Independence. Rocky River has not had much luck with Independence recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Rocky River lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Markiest Houston, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Houston hasn't dropped below two steals for 16 straight games. Another player making a difference was Shamari Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Rocky River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Independence got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kolbe Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kameron Jasper was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine assists.
Rocky River's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Independence, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Rocky River will head out on the road to face off against Garinger at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garinger is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Rocky River a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Independence will take on Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Butler's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
