Hunter hasn't had much luck against Pleasant Grove recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolverines will square off against the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. Hunter is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
On Thursday, Hunter got the win against Kearns by a conclusive 24-8. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 13 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
LEILA AIONO made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, ALEXA OLSEN was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was IZABELLA MAILO, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Hunter lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns only launched one.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove lost 13-7 to Wasatch on Thursday.
Mary Severe stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Catelyn Day also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Hunter, their record is now 16-9.
Pleasant Grove's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hunter has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Pleasant Grove, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Hunter's sizable advantage in that area, the Vikings will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hunter might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Pleasant Grove in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
