The Eastern Comets suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Carroll, falling 72-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eastern in their matchups with Carroll: they've now lost four in a row.
Eastern lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jenna Odle, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Appleton, who scored five points.
Eastern struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Carroll pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alli Harness, who scored 21 points along with nine assists and seven steals. Harness has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Wagner, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Eastern has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Eastern will be playing in front of their home fans against Clinton Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Clinton Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday. As for Carroll, they will head out on the road to challenge Tri-Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Carroll is ranked 46th).
