The Clovis North Broncos will face off against the Garces Memorial Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clovis North 3.4, Garces Memorial 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Clovis North is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Madera on Tuesday. Clovis North came out on top against Madera by a score of 7-3.
Jocelynn Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Clovis North let Brynn Gentry and Zoey Thomas run wild. Gentry scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Thomas went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those three runs gave Gentry a new career-high. Victoria Newman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Garces Memorial entered their tilt with Bakersfield on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Drillers. While the Rams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Garces Memorial also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jaiden Gutierrez gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Serenity Ward, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Gianna Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Garces Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bakersfield struck out eight times.
Garces Memorial's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Clovis North, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2-1.
Clovis North came out on top in a nail-biter against Garces Memorial when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Will Clovis North repeat their success, or does Garces Memorial has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
