Basketball Recap: Bishop Snyder Piles Up the Points Against Clay

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Bishop Snyder's strategy against Clay on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bishop Snyder Cardinals blew the Clay Blue Devils out of the water with a 46-11 final score. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Bishop Snyder found their leader in sophomore Bryonna Grimes, who went 9 for 13 en route to 22 points along with six boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grimes has scored all season. Shelby Gaines was another key player, going 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Bishop Snyder smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 21 consecutive games.

With the victory, Bishop Snyder broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 18-7. As for Clay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Bishop Snyder will take on KIPP Bold City at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th. As for Clay, they will challenge Fleming Island at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fleming Island will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Clay surely won't give up without a fight.
