McGill-Toolen extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 1 this week by beating Montgomery, 35-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Yellowjackets.
Murphy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kameron Maye threw for 69 and one touchdown and Michael Hudson had 52 yards receiving. On the ground Maye chipped in 239 yards. Sam Dixon helped Murphy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
The Panthers' Maye and Hudson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Maye has thrown for 371 yards this season, while Hudson, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 15 catches for 317 yards. Berron Tyson from Baker leads the league in rushing with 1185 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when McGill-Toolen takes on the Hornets. Bart Sessions' team is in first place, while Baker is in fourth place.
Murphy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,184 from 1,666. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-21 victory over the Hornets last week.
