The Foothill Falcons waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Durango with a sharp 61-37 victory. Given Foothill's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Trailblazers are ranked 55th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Foothill was led to victory by Christopher Natale jr and Zak Abdalla. Natale jr scored 19 points along with three steals, while Abdalla scored 20 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Natale jr has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shawn Salazar, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Durango, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foothill will take on the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Durango, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Skyhawks at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Silverado's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
