Basketball Recap: Peyton Skates Past Calhan with Ease

Peyton won the last time they faced Calhan and things went their way on Monday too. The Peyton Panthers breezed by the Calhan Bulldogs to the tune of 68-37. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Peyton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Perry out in front who went 10 of 16 on his way to 22 points and six assists. Perry's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Love, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks.

Despite the loss, Calhan had strong showings from Ethan Whitener, who went 7 for 10 en route to 15 points and three steals, and Patrick Glaser, who posted 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. That was a full 45.9% of Calhan's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Peyton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Calhan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Peyton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-53 defeat against Banning Lewis Academy on the 28th. As for Calhan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-52 loss against Burlington on the 29th.
