The Webster Thomas Titans will face off against the Penfield Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Webster Thomas comes in on 12 and Penfield on three.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Webster Thomas and Gates Chili, and Webster Thomas kept the tradition alive. The Titans put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 16-1 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jacob Dicicco looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Webster Thomas let AJ LaLoggia and Tyler Estelle run wild. LaLoggia went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Estelle got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Estelle has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Cameron Guffey, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Webster Thomas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Penfield). They blew past Brighton 10-1 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Patrick Emling made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Emling was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Penfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Natale, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Matt Scibienski was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Webster Thomas pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Penfield, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.
Webster Thomas beat Penfield 8-3 when the teams last played on May 9th. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
