It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Jersey Village Falcons face off against Cypress Falls Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jersey Village is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Jersey Village lost 17-5 to Stratford on Tuesday.
Jordyn Battise made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Cypress Falls made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northbrook on Wednesday. Cypress Falls blew past Northbrook 22-12. Considering the Eagles have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jasmine Shaw made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Cypress Falls got a massive performance out of Aubrey Leblanc, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. The dominant performance also gave Leblanc a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Tyler Sharrett, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two triples, and one double.
Cypress Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Jersey Village's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Cypress Falls, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-7.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jersey Village hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Cypress Falls struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
