It was a good run, but the Lakewood Christian Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 80-64 bruising from Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy was led to victory by Sheen Saunders Jr and Mustafa Alper Kaya. Saunders Jr dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Alper Kaya scored 26 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bonfils Kabwe, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Lakewood Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Lakewood Christian will be playing at home against Mingo Valley Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy, Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy and Crossover Prep will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crossover Prep will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
