The Canton Little Giants entered their tilt with the Washington Panthers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Canton walked away with a 58-51 win over the Panthers on Friday. For Canton, this counts as revenge for the 65-48 loss the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Canton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Wenger, who scored 17 points. Wenger continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Demler, who scored 11 points along with six assists and three steals.
Canton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. As for Washington, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canton will challenge the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Washington, they will head out on the road to challenge the Potters at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Morton is ranked 20th, while the Panthers are ranked 24th).
