After a string of four wins, the Harrison Central Red Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ridgeland.
Several Red Rebels players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaden Eckford, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Shaun Murray, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Ridgeland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Phil Nelson, who scored 18 points along with five assists and three steals. Nelson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ebo Wilson, who scored nine points along with 17 rebounds and five blocks.
Harrison Central's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Ridgeland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison Central will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against D'Iberville at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. D'Iberville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Harrison Central is ranked 31st). As for Ridgeland, they will head out on the road to face off against Neshoba Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neshoba Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 217 points over their last three matchups.
