Archbishop Moeller is a perfect 4-0 against Badin since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Fighting Crusaders will welcome the Rams at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Archbishop Moeller 3.4, Badin 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Archbishop Moeller turned things around against St. Ignatius on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Fighting Crusaders have posted since April 9th.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Badin). They put the hurt on La Salle with a sharp 17-9 victory on Friday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Nick Vess looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last two games.
On the hitting side, Badin got a massive performance out of Keegan Sawyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Sawyer a new career-high. Derek Ogden was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Badin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Badin's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Archbishop Moeller, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Archbishop Moeller skirted past Badin 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Do the Fighting Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
