Even though the Orange Lions scored an imposing 55 points on Wednesday, the West Geauga Wolverines still came out on top. West Geauga enjoyed a cozy 70-55 win over Orange. West Geauga pushed the score to 57-34 by the end of the third, a deficit Orange cut but never quite recovered from.
Orange's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ernie Pryor, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds, and Dominic Anekwe who scored 17 points. Anekwe is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Schmotzer, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for West Geauga and bumps their season record up to 10-4. As for Orange, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
West Geauga will head out on the road to square off against Beachwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Beachwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 597th, while West Geauga is ranked 264th). As for Orange, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chagrin Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jacob Kay and Pryor.
