The Highland Tech Rams's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past Shelby with points to spare, taking the game 48-33. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 21% better than the opposition, as Highland Tech's was.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katie Fangman, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Fangman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Shelby's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydnie Enste, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Enste is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Spake, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Highland Tech's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Shelby, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-9.
Highland Tech will take on Cherryville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherryville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 553rd, while Highland Tech is ranked 265th). As for Shelby, they will be playing at home against East Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Gaston is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
