Dunlap has gone 8-2 against Metamora recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will welcome the Redbirds at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dunlap has six straight wins, Metamora has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Dunlap got the win against Peoria Notre Dame by a conclusive 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Landon Gray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christian Ferrari was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Davis Weeks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Dunlap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria Notre Dame only posted a batting average of .148.
Illinois Valley Central hit Metamora with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Redbirds fell just short of the Grey Ghosts by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Redbirds have lost by just one run.
Stephen Petri made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Dunlap's victory bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Metamora, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-17.
Metamora's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dunlap hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Metamora, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain Dunlap's hitters?
Dunlap beat Metamora 6-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Redbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
