The East Wake Academy Eagles had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-27 win over Franklin Academy on Friday. The win was just what East Wake Academy needed coming off of a 59-32 defeat in their prior contest.
Emma Roche continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Reese Butler, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Franklin Academy still got an impressive performance from Sarah Godwin, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 48.1% of Franklin Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
East Wake Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Franklin Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Research Triangle the next time they take the court. East Wake Academy will head out to face Research Triangle at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Franklin Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
