Football Recap: Community School of Naples Piles Up the Points Against Zephyrhills Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Community School of Naples). They blew past the Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors 58-18 on Friday. Given the Seahawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Warriors are ranked 432nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jayvian Tanelus continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 263 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.4 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Another back making a difference was Pierce Szymanski, who rushed for 54 yards and one score on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Community School of Naples was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Community School of Naples' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Micah Fils Aime was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Community School of Naples received some extra help from Fritz Jacques, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Community School of Naples' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.8 points over those games. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Community School of Naples will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Carrollwood Day at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, they will challenge Clearwater Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Marauders' defense has only allowed 8.8 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
