Basketball Recap: St. Lawrence Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After a string of six wins, St. Lawrence Central's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks. The Larries were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lumberjacks earlier this season, when they won 63-59.

Despite the loss, St. Lawrence Central still got an impressive performance from Ayden Beach, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 11 boards, and ten steals. The contest was Beach's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Evans, who posted four points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, St. Lawrence Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Tupper Lake was led to victory by Ethan Barkley and Felix Bodeewes. Barkley went 10 for 13 on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Bodeewes earned 17 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Bodeewes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Colin Strack was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

St. Lawrence Central's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Tupper Lake, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

St. Lawrence Central will be playing at home against St. Regis Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Lawrence Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season. As for Tupper Lake, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-49 win against Hammond Central on the 1st.
