The River Dell Golden Hawks will square off against the Dwight Morrow Maroon Raiders at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Hopefully River Dell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Thursday.
River Dell scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They came out on top against Mahwah by a score of 73-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Sean Golden, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Liam Hickey, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Dwight Morrow had to settle for a 56-53 loss against Fort Lee on Wednesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Dwight Morrow came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Fort Lee is ranked 273rd).
River Dell is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Dwight Morrow, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
River Dell lost to Dwight Morrow on the road by a decisive 64-47 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can River Dell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
