Baseball Recap: Mitchell Gets the Win

After losing to Clearwater Central Catholic the last time they met, Mitchell decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mustangs walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Marauders on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Mitchell got a great performance from Andrew LaMacchia as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts LaMacchia has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Jonathon Rodriquez was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Aponte, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Mitchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mitchell now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mitchell will welcome Weeki Wachee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they will host Tampa Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
