West Yosemite recap September 24, 2013
Golden West scaled the state rankings by moving to 668 from 774 this week, the biggest jump in West Yosemite. The Trailblazers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Reedley 50-14.
Golden West took down the Pirates 50-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Redwood's dynamic duo of Adam Vance and Rickie Garcia proved tough for Hoover to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Vance threw for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns and Garcia had 122 yards receiving. Jordan Arnold helped Redwood's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 85 yards.
The Rangers' dynamic duo of Vance and Garcia proved to be unstoppable against the Patriots, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Richard Doctor was a force in the backfield as Lemoore bested Sanger.
He was 11-14 with 0 interception.
Garcia was the best receiver in the league this week as Redwood topped Hoover.
Doctor was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 275 yards on 34 carries as the Tigers beat Mike Hill's team. Teammate Rashaun Davis added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.
Jake Young provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Hanford lost to Porterville. He completed 15 passes for 262 yards and also ran for 71 yards. Young's favorite target this week was Francisco Ramirez, who caught 7 passes for 115 yards.
Vance put up the best numbers through the air as the Rangers defeated the Patriots.
6-foot-1 quarterback Young of the Bullpups is the league leader in passing yards this season with 899. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Garcia. The Redwood star has 16 catches for 288 yards.
The top two teams in West Yosemite will face off this week when first place Redwood takes on second place Lemoore. Last week, Redwood topped Hoover, while Lemoore bested the Apaches.
Doctor of the Shannon S. Pulliam's team is just 32 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 109 carries Doctor has put up 968 yards this year.
Paul Preheim's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,409 from 11,090. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 50-14 victory over Reedley last week.
