Even though the Martin County Cardinals scored an imposing 79 points on Saturday, the Breathitt County Bobcats still came out on top. Breathitt County managed a 84-79 victory over Martin County. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Breathitt County also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Breathitt County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Sperry out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Bellamy, who scored 27 points along with 6 rebounds.
Breathitt County's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Martin County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Breathitt County will be playing in front of their home fans against Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Martin County, they will head out on the road to face off against Knott County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Knott County Central will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
