Westside has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Howard Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Westside sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over Perry. Given Westside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Perry is ranked 391st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Harden, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Little, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Howard came into Friday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 61-57 W over Perry on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Westside's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Howard, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-15.
Westside strolled past Howard in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 63-44. Does Westside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Howard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
