Basketball Recap: Colfax Wins Going Away Against Center

Colfax won the last time they faced Center and things went their way on Friday too. The Colfax Falcons put the hurt on the Center Cougars with a sharp 83-59 victory. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Center's loss came despite strong showings from Andy McLear and Tima Makovey. McLear posted 24 points, while Makovey earned 15 points and three steals. McLear's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Nesmith, who scored five points and three steals.

The win made it two in a row for Colfax and bumps their season record up to 18-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Center, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colfax will head out to challenge Oakmont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oakmont knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Colfax likes a good challenge. As for Center, they will take on Mira Loma at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.
