If the Mesivta Mustangs were feeling good off their 69-39 takedown of the International Christian Titans last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mesivta was the victim of a rough 65-41 defeat at the hands of Kohelet Yeshiva on Saturday. Mesivta was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-12.
Despite the loss, Mesivta had strong showings from Max Mogyoros , who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, and Dov Hirsch , who scored 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kohelet Yeshiva to victory, but perhaps none more so than Asher Kahlon, who scored 21 points. The contest was Kahlon's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Daniel Benjamini was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Mesivta's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Kohelet Yeshiva, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Girard College the next time they take the court. Mesivta will head out to face Girard College at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, while Kohelet Yeshiva will host them at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
