The Jackson Ironman/Ironladies entered their tilt with the Unioto Shermans with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Jackson walked away with a 59-46 victory over Unioto on Wednesday. For Jackson, this counts as revenge for the 72-37 loss Unioto walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Jackson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mattie Walburn, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was T.j. Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Unioto saw an underclassman step up: Magnolia Holbert scored 18 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Holbert scored 15 or more points. Aidyn Danison was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Jackson is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. As for Unioto, their loss ended a 17-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-3.
Jackson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-36 win vs. Vinton County on the 10th. Unioto has also already played their next game, a 59-21 win against Southeastern on the 9th.
