The Boothbay Seahawks will head out on the road to challenge the Spruce Mountain Phoenix at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Boothbay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Boothbay had to suffer through a rough 89-36 loss at the hands of Mount Abram. Boothbay was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-10.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Finn Harkins, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That was a full 36.1% of Boothbay's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Luke Morley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Spruce Mountain can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past Winthrop 69-37 on the road. Spruce Mountain has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.
Boothbay's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Spruce Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Boothbay suffered a grim 69-43 defeat to Spruce Mountain when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Boothbay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
