The Hatley Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Itawamba Agricultural Indians at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hatley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Vardaman on Friday. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rams an 8-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

The result came thanks to Emily Hill's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zoey Horne, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Echols, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Hatley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vardaman struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Itawamba Agricultural had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Tigers 10-4.
Layla Owens was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Owens was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Alden Kline was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mollie McGee, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Itawamba Agricultural pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Hatley, their record now sits at 14-5.
Hatley suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Itawamba Agricultural when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
