Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Monday, dropping them down to 0-6. They came up short against the Merritt Island Christian Cougars, falling 17-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.
Julia Leach was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleigh Schmoll, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
As for Merritt Island Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
On Merritt Island Christian's side, Sarah Robison was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Robison posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2025. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keri Shea, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Mia Rosa, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Looking ahead, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against City of Life Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. Merritt Island Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
