5A Region II District 12 recap October 8, 2013
Mesquite scaled the state rankings by moving to 149 from 198 this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 12. The Skeeters were able to move up by beating Rockwall-Heath 39-14.
Horn extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rockwall, 49-32. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Destri White threw for 318 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 19-26 with 1 interception.
White put up the best numbers through the air as Horn beat the Yellowjackets. White's favorite target this week was Del'Michael High, who caught 9 passes for 181 yards.
Mike Overton's team's White and High have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback White has thrown for 1,366 yards this season, while High has 28 catches for 464 yards. Longview's Jamycal Hasty leads the league in rushing yards with 774.
One of 5A Region II District 12's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Jaguars and Mesquite face off next week.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Mesquite takes on Rockwall. The Stallions are in first place, while Rodney Webb's team is in fifth place.
The Hawks fell to Robbie Robinson's team 39-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ryne Randle was a bright spot for Rockwall-Heath, as he threw for 131 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 39 yards in the defeat.
