Basketball Recap: Clovis Skates Past Dexter with Ease

Dexter typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Clovis proved too difficult a challenge. They took their match with ease, bagging a 63-28 win over the Dexter Demons. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Clovis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gianna Cordova out in front who went 8 of 14 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Cordova has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kerrington Goff, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 15 points and six boards.

Despite the loss, Dexter saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaylonie Nevarez posted 12 points and four steals. Karina Fuentes was another key player, putting up six points.

Clovis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Dexter, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Clovis is taking a road trip to face off against Lovington at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Dexter, they will host Elida at 5:30 p.m. on January 21st.
